Richard Dayne Braniff

May 1, 1971 - June 30, 2020

We are extremely saddened to announce the sudden passing of our loving son and brother Richard Dayne Braniff.

Richard was named Dane Dahl when born on May 1, 1971 to Gaye Ellen and Donald Dahl. Predeceased by his birth mother on October 24, 2019. When he was 6 years old his name became Richard Dayne Braniff when he was adopted into the Braniff family by Ronald and Shirley Braniff.

Richard is survived by his mother Shirley Braniff VanMaanen (Willy), siblings Wayne (Sandra), Gwen Bratvold (Gerry), Gary (Cathy), Linda Taylor (Ron), and Robbie (Debbie), and their families Predeceased by his father Ronald. He will sadly missed by his half brother David Dahl, his maternal aunts, Terry Pfaff (Gary) and Cathrin Winhold (Hans Dijk), and their families. He was predeceased by his grandparents Kaye and Woody Doerr. He was also blessed to have an amazing friendship with Heather Skene, Brian, Neil, and Dwayne.

Richard volunteered at Oasis, then at Ray of Hope in Kitchener for over 23 years where he was well known for his generous spirit and giving nature. He also enjoyed working part time at Bouclair in Waterloo.

A very special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at St. Mary’s Hospital for the amazing care they took with Richard as he put up a brilliant fight. Their compassion will never be forgotten.
