Ellig, Leona “Lee”
Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at St. Mary’s Hospital, in her 84th year. Lee was the beloved wife and best friend of Gerry for over 62 years. Cherished mother of Betty (Steve) Diebold, Rick (Maureen) Ellig, Debbie (Mike) Perry, Brenda (Geoff) Pasher. Adored grandmother of Ashton, Matt, Jillian, Brooke, Becca, Tyler, and Alex. Predeceased by her parents Max and Sophie Hehn, and brother Gerald. Fondly remembered by her siblings Florence Kelly, Ivan (Eileen) Hehn, Agnes Ernst, Marianne Lang, Dorothy Wilhelm, Loretta (Tom) O’Hagan, Kathleen (Don) Voison, Don (DyAnne) Hehn and in-laws Dorothy Montag, Wally (Glenda) Ellig, and many nieces and nephews. Lee was devoted in her faith and to her family, and will be remembered for her warm and welcoming ways. She cherished family gatherings, being with friends, and was so very proud of all her grandchildren. The family will receive their relatives and friends at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, 62 Arthur St. S., Elmira on Sunday, June 19, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where parish prayers will be offered at 1:45 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, June 20, 2016 at 11:15 a.m. at St. Teresa of Avila RC Church, 19 Flamingo Dr., Elmira. A Christian burial will take place at a later date in the Elmira Union Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation or the St. Mary’s General Hospital - Respiratory Care would be appreciated.
