Obituary of Earl Wideman
Wideman, Earl ~ Passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at the age of 71 years. Earl Wideman was the beloved husband for 50 years of Erma (Frey) Wideman. Loving and proud father of Laurie (Steve) Gold, Paul (Darlene), Anne (Mike) Leonard, and Sherry (Mike) Brito. Dedicated and loving grandfather of Zachary, Sonya, Hayley, Kyleigh, Wade, Leah, Colton, Callie, and Jackson. Dear brother of Fern Brubacher, Marie (Clarence) Weber, Ella (Howard) Brubacher, Glenn (Lorene) Wideman, Vera (Allen) Gingrich, and David Wideman, and brother-in-law of Eva Wideman. Predeceased by his parents Menno and Salema (Gingrich) Wideman, brother Lorne Wideman, and brother-in-law Orvie Brubacher. Earl joined the St. Jacobs volunteer fire department in 1965 and became chief in 1980. In 1990 he was named the township chief and served with passion until his retirement in 2005. Earl owned and operated W-S Feed & Supplies Ltd. from 1965 until his retirement in 2009. Visitation will take place on Saturday, March 26, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Sunday, March 27, 2016 from 1:30-4 p.m. at Floradale Mennonite Church, 22 Florapine Road, Floradale. A funeral service will be held at the church on Monday, March 28, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. with interment to follow. As expressions of sympathy, donations to St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation for Cardiac Care or the House of Friendship would be appreciated.
