Obituary of Eral Shantz

With family by her side, Eral Shantz of Fairview Mennonite Home in Cambridge passed from death into the loving arms of her heavenly Father on Monday, January 11, 2016 at the age of 92 years. Eral was devoted to family, church and community. Her gardening, flower arranging and cooking skills were exceptional during the years she raised her family on the farm on the Heidelberg Road, and later at her home in St. Jacobs. She ministered God’s love and faithfulness to all she met, including those she encountered during her time at Fairview. Much loved wife of the late Harold Brubacher (1983), then of the late Stanley Shantz (2009). Loving mother to five children: Elizabeth and Claude Setzkorn of Franklin, PA, Margaret and Dan Griffin of Hamilton, Paul and Marilyn Brubacher of Elmira; predeceased by James Richard and Charlotte Rose who both died shortly after childbirth. Loving stepmother and grandmother to Stan’s family: Jeanne Leis (Ralph 1998), Lois and Tom Broda, Ross and Jean Shantz, Larry and Cindy Shantz, their children and grandchildren. Family was so important to mom, she would have wanted to acknowledge each by name. Loving grandmother to Rebecca and Dave King and daughter Angela of Lancaster, PA; Charlotte and Travis McGinnis and children Kayden, Alayna and Brenna of Westminster, CO; Matthew Setzkorn of Guelph; and Andrew Setzkorn of Eugene, OR; Sonya and Dylan Fry of Victoria, BC; Loni and Ben Krul and son Brayden of Mansfield, ON; Bronwyn and Austin Garrick of Los Angeles, CA; Jonathan Brubacher of Waterloo, and Danielle Brubacher of Sudbury. Survived by her sister Florence and Roy Kreider of Broadway, VA and sisters-in-law Shirley Mader of Cambridge and Alberta Cressman of Kelowna, BC. Predeceased by siblings Verda (Gord) Lichty, Willard (Isabel) Cressman, Leonard Cressman, Donald Cressman and Mary in infancy.
