Obituary of Shirley Ogram
Ogram, Shirley A. (Nee Griffin) ~ Passed away peacefully on Monday, December 21, 2015 at Chartwell Retirement Residence, Elmira. Beloved wife of the late JD Ogram (1977). Loving mother of Sharon Hunsperger, Barry and Karen Ogram, Judy and Steve Schaaf. Grandmother of Tracey Soehner, Tammy Kehn (Al), Adam Ogram (Julie), Luke Ogram, Holly Ogram, Brandon Schaaf, and Justin Schaaf. Great-grandmother of Travis, Curtis, Kinley, and Beckham. Fondly remembered by Jason and Jennifer Doherty, Tanya and Jon Solberg, and their families. Also survived by her sister and brother-in-law Shirley and Nick Merluk. Mom was born June 12, 1927 in Woodstock to Ken and Edith Griffin. She lived in Linwood for over sixty years until moving to Chartwell Retirement Residence in Elmira in 2013 where she was very happy. Predeceased by her parents, her sister Jean Class, her brother Allen Griffin, son-in-law John Doherty, brother and sister-in-law Bill and Mabel Ogram. At Shirley’s request there will be no funeral home visitation. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at 11 a.m. in the chapel at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, 62 Arthur St. S., Elmira. A reception will follow in the funeral home. Interment will take place at Linwood Union Cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donation to St Peter’s Lutheran Church, Linwood, would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. The family wish to express a thank you to the staff at Chartwell for their exceptional care and kindness while Mom resided there. Also thank you to the PSWs who looked after her so well for the past two weeks.
