Obituary of Reta Martin
Martin, Reta B. ~ Passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Lisaard House, at the age of 81 years. Her generous, patient, and loving spirit will be missed by all who knew her. Beloved wife of Orvie S. Martin with whom she shared nearly 60 years of marriage. She will be deeply missed by Orvie; her children, Lois and Ralph Cressman, Steve Martin and Marilew Albrecht, Stuart and Karen Martin, Nancy Martin and Greg Stere, Janet and Trevor Bauman, Sherman and Shellie Martin; her 19 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Reta cherished her immediate and extended family connections. Cherishing their many memories with Reta are her siblings, Alice and Glenn Buschert, Laverne Martin and Elsie Kuepfer, Grace Schweitzer, Barb and Orrie Gingrich, Ken Martin, Ernie and Edith Martin, Murray and Ruth Martin, David and Ruth Martin, Don and Julia Martin, Elaine and Bill Pearce; and Orvie’s siblings, Minerva and Elias Bauman and Erma and Gordon Bauman; and her many nieces, nephews, and friends. Predeceased by her parents Emanuel and Leah (Bauman) Martin and her parents-in-law Jesse and Selina (Shantz) Martin, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Elsie and William Ilan, Melvin Martin, Norma Martin, Erle Schweitzer, and Mary Martin. Reta was a faithful member of St. Jacobs Mennonite Church, contributing generously to its programs and ministries. Visitation will be on Thursday, April 13 from 7-9 p.m. and Friday, April 14 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira. Following a private family burial, a memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 15 at 2 p.m. at the St. Jacobs Mennonite Church, with pastors Mark Diller Harder and Wendy Janzen officiating. Special thank you to the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre and Lisaard House staff for their excellent care. Expressions of sympathy can be made to Lisaard House or Mennonite Central Committee.
