Obituary of James Desmarais
Desmarais, James “Jim” ~ Passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at Barnswallow Place Care Community, Elmira, with his family by his side. Jim, eight days short of his 87th birthday, was of Elmira formerly of Toronto. Beloved husband of Sharon for 18 years. Dear father of Lucille (Greg) Broad of Slave Lake, Lorraine Young (Tony Tocco) of Oakville, Susan (Michael) Morrison of Haliburton, Margaret (Ricky) Broad of Slave Lake, and Rose-Anne (Bruce) Chapman of Fergus. Lovingly remembered by his 19 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Jim will be missed by Sharon’s family. Jim is predeceased by his parents Anthony Clovis Desmarais (1973) and Lucille Flaherty (1933) and by his daughter Madeleine Desmarais-Cruickshank (1972). At Jim’s request cremation has taken place. A memorial service for family and friends will be held on Monday, July 13, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, 62 Arthur St. S., Elmira. In Jim’s memory, donations to Barnswallow Place Resident Council would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. A special thank you to Dr. Hahn and all the nurses and staff at Barnswallow Place for the wonderful care given to Jim and his family.
