Obituary of Wesley Sauder
With thankfulness for a life well lived, we announce the passing of Wesley M. Sauder, at the age of 94 years on Saturday, July 4, 2015, at Derbecker’s Heritage House, in St. Jacobs. Wesley will once again be united with his beloved wife and soul mate, Luella Mae (Holst) Sauder, who predeceased him in 2013. Dear father of Sharon and Len Wideman of Elmira, Margaret and Lester Eby of Fergus, Stewart and Karen Sauder of St. Jacobs, Arnold Sauder and Karen Hutchison of Kitchener. Lovingly remembered by grandchildren Jen (Steve) Shoemaker, Kim Martin (Norbert Mauer), Cindy (Tony) Erb, Steve (Christa) Wideman, Derek (Kim) Wideman, Marybeth (Asher) Dreise, Wesley Eby, Kaitlin (Josh) Zubrickas and Kendra Sauder, and by his great-grandchildren Brandon (Robyn) Shoemaker, Brock (Jessica) Shoemaker, Jessica Martin, Jodi Martin, Nicole (Matt) Bauman, Brady Erb, Cara, Rylee and Zachary Wideman, Emily and Curtis Wideman and Ellie Zubrickas.
Brother of Stanley Sauder, Harvey (Alice) Sauder, Miriam Wagler, Joanna Ropp and Maurice (Mabel) Sauder, and brother-in-law of Dianna Sauder. Also remembered by Judy Sauder. Wesley is also lovingly remembered by the Holst family. Wesley was the oldest child of the late Benjamin and Rosanna (Martin) Sauder and step-mother Susanna (Martin). He was predeceased by his son-in-law Ray Wideman, grandson Samuel Eby, and great-granddaughter Ashley Shoemaker. Also predeceased by his brother Mahlon, brothers-in-law Alvin Wagler, Delton Holst and Alfred Ropp, sisters-in-law Gladys Sauder, Dorothy Sauder, Hazel Sauder and Barbara Sauder.
The family will receive their relatives and friends at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A family interment will take place in St. Jacobs Mennonite Cemetery followed by a memorial service to celebrate Wesley’s life and faith on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at 2:30 p.m. Due to renovations at St. Jacobs Mennonite Church, the memorial service will be held at Calvary United Church, 48 Hawkesville Road, St. Jacobs, with Pastor Kevin Derksen and Pastor Wendy Janzen officiating. A time of fellowship will follow. In Wesley’s memory, donations to Mennonite Central Committee would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the management, staff and Dr. Whitby of Derbecker’s Heritage House in St. Jacobs for their excellent care of Wesley during his time there.
