Wasylycia, Harry ~ 1919 - 2015 ~ Harry died on June 19, 2015 at the age of 96, feeling satisfied with his life. He greatly missed his beloved wife Klazina who died on January 1, 2015. He will be sorely missed by his six children: Elizabeth Macdonald (David), Mary Ann Wasylycia (Ken Coe), Judy Wasylycia-Leis (Ron), Andy Wasylycia (Deb), Neil Wasylycia (Ibolya), and Nancy Coschi (Frank). Harry is remembered with love by his 17 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He is also lovingly remembered by sisters Katie, Helen, Xenia, Luella, and Martha, brothers Joseph and Jim, sister-in-law Janny Swijters and family, and by Margaret and Kathy. Harry was predeceased by his brothers Michael and Jacob and sisters Annie, Christine, and Sophie. Harry was the son of Maria (Woytkiw) (1973) and Andrew (1980). Born April 15, 1919 in Myrnam, Alberta, he left the farm and later joined the Governor General’s Horse Guards. From 1941–1946 he served in North Africa, Italy, France, Belgium, and Holland. In Holland, he met Klazina and convinced her to come to Canada to marry him. They settled in Winterbourne where they raised their six children. Harry worked for Uniroyal for 34 years in addition to his own electrical and plumbing business. He was very active, even climbing hydro poles in his 80s. He was a longtime member of Conestogo United Church, and later West Montrose United Church, and of the Elmira Legion. Thanks to the caring staff at Barnswallow Place who were so kind to Dad. Cremation has taken place. Friends are invited to share their memories of Harry with the family at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira on Thursday, July 2, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-8:30 p.m. The funeral service to celebrate Harry’s life will be held on Friday, July 3, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Donations to the Elmira Legion Poppy Fund would be appreciated.
