Obituary of Harry Stroh

Stroh, Harry ~ After a long and stoic battle with illness Harry passed away at his home in Elmira on Monday, February 16, 2015, at the age of 94 years. Beloved husband of the late Doris (Seip) Stroh (2005). Dear father of Fred (Jan), Wendy, and John. Loving grandpa of Sheri, Craig (Michelle), Randi, Tori, and Tim, and great-grandpa of Carter and Peyton. Predeceased by his parents Henry and Clara (Ritter) Stroh, brother Russell, and sister Florence Huehn. Harry was a veteran of World War II having served with the Royal Canadian Regiment in Sicily and Italy. Harry was a sportsman and competitor, and played softball for many years with the St. Jacobs team in the North Waterloo Rural Softball League; he also played hockey and horseshoes, and later in years took up golf. Harry loved to garden and did not have to go further than his backyard in order to relax and enjoy nature, his pets and the wildlife he loved so well. At Harry’s request cremation has taken place. A memorial visitation for family and friends to celebrate Harry’s life will be held at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, 62 Arthur St. S., Elmira on Friday, February 20, 2015 from 3-5:30 p.m. In Harry’s memory, donations to the Poppy Fund Branch 469 Elmira would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. The family would like to thank Harry’s home health care team for the professional, compassionate and expert care they provided for him, enabling him to stay in his own home. Service Summary Memorial Visitation: For family and friends to celebrate Harry’s life will be held at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, 62 Arthur St. S., Elmira on Friday, February 20, 2015 from 3-5:30 p.m. ~ Donations: Poppy Fund Branch 469 Elmira (11 First St. E., Elmira, ON N3B 2Z5)
