Obituary of Jerome Ertel

Ertel, Jerome "Buster" ~ Passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at the Hamilton General Hospital, at the age of 82 years. Buster Ertel was the beloved husband of Betty (Walter) Ertel of Elmira. Dear father of Brian and Stephanie Ertel, Karen and Derek Doak, Stephen and Annette Ertel, Jennifer and Brad Van Manen. Much loved Papa of Kallie Doak; Justyn and Jordan Huehn, Owen Van Manen; Taylor and Ryan Ertel. Great Papa to great-granddaughter Malia. Lovingly remembered by his siblings Lorraine Leinhardt, Rita Klein, and Bob (Julie) Ertel, and by his many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his sisters Betty (Graham) Southcote and Margaret in childhood, brothers-in-law Francis Leinhardt and Stanley Klein. Buster drove transport for Listowel Transport Lines (LTL) for 36 years. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held on Sunday, February 15, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, 62 Arthur St. S., Elmira. Parish prayers will be offered at the funeral home on Sunday at 3 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, February 16, 2015 at 11 a.m. at St. Teresa of Avila RC Church, 19 Flamingo Dr., Elmira. Interment in Elmira Union Cemetery on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at 11 a.m. As expressions of sympathy, donations can be made to Friends of Hockey or St. Mary’s Cardiac Care and would be appreciated by the family.
