Obituary of Gerry Omand
Omand, Gerry ~ With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Gerald Robert Omand (Gerry) in his 69th year, on Saturday, February 7, 2015. Son of the late Fraser Omand (1997) and Jean Omand (2008). Left to mourn is his wife of 45 years, Lottie, daughter Dawn Allensen (Tim), son Kirk (Brandy), grandchildren Paige and Nathan Allensen, Taylor and Jack Omand. Sisters Linda (Joel) Kaufman and Pat (Dave) Yaeger of Kitchener. Nieces and nephews Shannon, Marcus, Luke, Spencer, Emma, and Sara. Gerry started Eldorado Plywood in 1982, sold and retired in 1997 after his first battle with cancer. He made the most of his 20 years since; travelling, golfing, playing tennis, and wintering in Sebring, Florida. A special thank you to Dr. Sophie Wilson, the chemo nurses and staff at Guelph General Hospital, Bayshore Home Care nurses Rose and Kelly for months of care, and Hospice Wellington. Cremation has taken place and interment will be held in Parkview Cemetery at a later date. A celebration of life for family and friends will be held at the Village by the Arboretum, 221 Stone Road East, Guelph on Sunday, April 26, 2015 from 1-4 p.m. Donations in his memory can be made to Hospice Wellington or Guelph General Hospital. Arrangements entrusted to the Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira.
