Obituary of Caryl Duke
Duke, Caryl ~ Passed away peacefully at Leisureworld, Elmira, on Monday, January 26, 2015, at the age of 95 years. Caryl (Hislop) Duke was the beloved wife of the late Mervin Duke (1998). Dear mother of Jane (Lloyd Fraser) Duke and Margaret Duke. Survived by three grandsons and her sister Rachel Lundy. Also remembered by her daughter-in-law Florence Magon. Predeceased by her son Don Duke and daughter Marilyn “Susie”. Caryl was born and raised in Innerkip and moved to Elmira with her husband Mervin when he began his teaching career. She was an avid seamstress and also spent many hours at the arena supporting her family and community as they were active in hockey and figure skating. Caryl was very thankful for her wonderful South Street neighbours and for summers spent watching the hummingbirds and the beautiful sunsets in Red Bay. At Caryl’s request, a private family service has been held followed by interment at Elmira Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society or Gale Presbyterian Church, Elmira. Arrangements entrusted to the Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira.
