Obituary of Verna Nelson

Nelson, Verna Mae (neé Wagner) ~ Peacefully passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at Grand River Hospital, in her 88th year. Verna, of Elmira, was the beloved wife of the late Stanley John “Alec” Nelson (1995). Dear mother of Keith and Jeanette Nelson of Waterloo, Joanne and David Hughes of Waterloo, Terry and Marilyn Nelson of Ariss, and Grant and Kelly Nelson of Elmira. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren David and Mary Kathryn Nelson; Mark Hughes, Kathryn (Michael) Gilezan; Shane and Ryan Nelson; Jackie, Alexis, Caitlyn and Kalie Nelson. Sister of Myrtle Capling of Courtney, BC, Paul and Nancy Wagner of Guelph, and sister-in-law of Dorothy Wagner and Audrey Melitzer, both of Elmira. Predeceased by her parents Allan and Edith (Mohr) Wagner, brother John Wagner, sisters Mabel Koch and Beatrice Witzel, brothers-in-law John Capling, Walter Koch and Verlus Witzel, sister-in-law June Marr, mother-in-law Rose Oehring. The family will receive their relatives and friends at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, 62 Arthur St. S., Elmira, on Monday, January 19, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Trinity United Church, 21 Arthur St. N., Elmira, on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at 2 p.m. followed by interment in Elmira Union Cemetery. In Verna’s memory, donations to Trinity United Church or Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
