Obituary of Doris Gingrich
Gingrich, Doris ~ Peacefully passed away on Sunday, August 10, 2014 at Chateau Gardens (Chartwell), at the age of 83 years. Loving sister of Eileen Martin of Elmira and Fern Metzger of Floradale. Also lovingly remembered by her 13 nieces and nephews and their families. Predeceased by her parents Eli and Ida (Shantz) Gingrich, sisters Olive Shantz and Wilma Gingrich, brothers-in-law Clayton Shantz, Vernon Martin, and Harold Metzger, nephew Rodney Martin, great-niece Becky Frey, and great-nephew Jesse Millard-Martin. Doris was director of nursing and part owner of Elmira Nursing Home for 28 years, along with her sister Wilma and Beatrice Snyder. Doris, Wilma and Beatrice received an award for Citizen of the Year. Doris was a faithful member of the Elmira Mennonite Church. At Doris’s request cremation has taken place. A memorial visitation for family and friends will take place at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira, on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Interment of cremated remains will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Floradale Mennonite Cemetery. A memorial service to celebrate Doris’s life and faith will follow at 11 a.m. at Elmira Mennonite Church. In her memory, donations to the Becky Frey Memorial Fund or MCC would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
