Obituary of Eric Jack Rolfe

Rolfe, Eric Jack ~ Passed away suddenly at his home in Rockwood on Saturday, August 2, 2014, in his 91st year. Jack Rolfe was the beloved husband of Joan (Strevett) Rolfe for 68 years. Dear father of Jayne and her husband Wayne Robinson of Guelph, and daughter-in-law Rosanna Rolfe of Newton. Dearly loved papa of Amanda (Terry) May, Katrina (Paul) DaSilva, and Jesse (Jill) Rolfe. Much loved great-papa of Eric, Kate, Lilah, Mary, Emilia, and Johnathan. He will be sadly missed by his nieces, nephews, and many friends in Great Britain and Canada. He was predeceased by his son John Rolfe (2011), two brothers, and two sisters. Jack was in the Royal Navy for 15 years and served in the Second World War. Jack and Joan formerly lived in Elmira for 40 years and during that time were active volunteers at Leisureworld and were members of the Royal Canadian Legion Elmira Branch 469. A memorial service will be conducted in the chapel of the Dreisinger Funeral Home, 62 Arthur St. S., Elmira, on Friday, August 8, 2014 at 11 a.m. A reception will follow in the funeral home. Cremation has taken place. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Ontario SPCA or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario would be appreciated. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the Rockwood Fire Department, paramedics, and the caring staff at the Emergency Department of the Guelph General Hospital.
