Obituary of Donald Melvin Schell

SCHELL, Don Peacefully on Friday, February 24, 2017 at Freeport Health Centre at the age of 75 years. Don was the beloved husband of Eva (Shoemaker) Schell for 50 years. Dear father of Rosanne and Pete Katerberg of Elora , Lisa and David Williams of Floradale , Leanne and Gary Jantzi of Wellesley , Norticea and Jason Pomery of Kitchener, and Tamara Schell of Elmira. Grandpa of Danielle (Stephen), Kristen, Jenna and Bethany; Matthew, Nathan and Rachel; Derek, Brandon and Eric. Brother of Keith (Ruth) whom Don was reunited with in adulthood, and brother-in-law of Myrna Schell and Harold (June) Raycraft. Lovingly remembered by the Shoemaker family. Predeceased by his brother Norm Schell and sister Helen Raycraft. Don was a barber on Arthur Street in Elmira for 49 years and was one of the founding members of Zion Mennonite Fellowship. The family will receive their relatives and friends on Sunday, February 26, 2017 from 1-5 p.m. at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, 62 Arthur St. S., Elmira. A celebration of life will be held on Monday, February 27, 2017 at 2 p.m. at the Elmira Mennonite Church. A family interment has taken place at the Elmira Mennonite Cemetery. In Don’s memory, donations to Grand River Regional Cancer Centre or Mennonite Central Committee would be appreciated.
