Obituary of Kathy Shantz

Shantz, Kathy (Orr) Passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 25, 2013 with her family by her side at Grand River Hospital at age 66, after a brave fight with colon cancer. Awesome mother of Daintry and Tyler (Tara). Loving partner of Sid Smith of Winterbourne, and his children Alison Gillard (Eric) and Mike Smith (Nicole). Dear sister of Don Orr (Lynn). Proud Nana of Reid Shantz, and Charlie and Henry Smith. Special aunt of Abby and Ben Orr. Caring friend of Emily, Laura and Marilyn Temple. Fondly remembered by the Smith family and dear close friends. Kathy recently retired from the LCBO in Elmira to spend time with her grandsons and enjoy her garden, family and friends. In Kathy’s memory, please go and get a colonoscopy! The family will receive relatives and friends for memorial visitation on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira. A memorial service will be held at St. James Lutheran Church, Elmira on Thursday, August 29, 2013 at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow in the church hall. Cremation has taken place. If desired, charitable donations can be made to teaching mission work in the Dominican Republic and may be made through the funeral home, or MCC or Kiwanis Transit.
