Obituary of William Rowe

It is with great love and sadness that we announce the passing of William (Bill) Rowe on Saturday, June 22, 2013 in his 79th year. Former employee of Union Carbide. Best friend and loving husband to Linda Rowe, his captive audience and cheerleader for 31 awesome years, filled with laughter. Friend and father of Karen (Mark) Schieck of Elmira, and Roberta Rowe of Brampton, Mike (Cathryn) Rushlow of Keswick and Sabrina (Larry) Rushlow of Cambridge. Loving Papa to Kristy (Colin) Martin, Steph (Mason) Halstead, Ashley (Richard) Shantz, Kristina Beaul (Jeremy), Miranda Smith, Aidan and Carter Rushlow. Great grandfather of Brody and Blake Martin and Baby Shantz and Baby Vervoort. Uncle and friend to the Steele family; Muggs and David (2009), Brian and Pat, Al and Cheryl, Sue and Mike, Ron and Mary, and John and Tina, and their children. Also lovingly remembered by his friends John and Ev Simpson, Al and Cathie Cairns, as well as many others at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 469 Elmira. Bill was a lover of hockey and baseball and was a diehard Leaf fan to the end. He was predeceased by his father William, sister Eleanor, and nephew David. The family is asking in lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or the Poppy Fund at the R.C.L. Br. 469 Elmira. Many thanks to the nurses of the 5D south wing of Grand River Hospital for the kindness and compassion that they showed the family and Bill the last days of Bill’s life. You made a sad and difficult time an easier experience for all the Rowe/Rushlow/Steele family. Also a thank you to Dr. Scott Morlock for his caring attention. Bill wanted a Celebration of Life, which will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, 11 First Street E., Elmira on Saturday June 29, 2013 from 1-4p.m. Cremation has taken place.
