Obituary of Leonard Brohman

Leonard Brohman ~ September 22, 1927 - March 1, 2013 ~ It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Leonard Brohman at the age of 85 years. An unconventional man, he taught us much about a simple lifestyle. Len lived his entire life on the family homestead near Maryhill, where his mother, grandfather and great-grandfather had lived. He worked for CP Rail, retiring after 37 years of service. Leonard was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Maryhill. For 16 years, Len opened his farm to the Bridgeport Wish Run, raising money for local charities. Lucky are those who visited Leonard and enjoyed a glass of his homemade cider. A special thank you to nephew Rick Motz, nieces Cindy Battler and Susan Motz, as well as Twin Oaks of Maryhill, for their care of Leonard in his final days. Leonard will be fondly remembered by his dear friend Margaret and his siblings Mary Dickson, Bernard, Elizabeth Motz, Robert (Sally), and sister-in-law Helen. Predeceased by his siblings and in-laws Ralph (Marie), Clayton (Peggy), Wilfred, Clarence, Dorothy (Jack) Steffler, Helen (Don) Kreiger, Roy, Ross Dickson, and by his parents Barney Brohman and Angelina Schmuck. Leonard’s family will receive relatives and friends at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, 62 Arthur St. S., Elmira on Monday, March 4, 2013 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. with parish prayers at 3 p.m. On Tuesday, March 5, 2013 prayers will be offered at 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a procession to St. Boniface R.C. Church, Maryhill for a funeral mass at 10 a.m. with Fr. Ronald Voisin officiating. Interment will take place in St. Boniface Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy in Leonard’s memory may be made by donations to St. Boniface Church, Maryhill and arranged through the funeral home.
