Obituary of Helmer Axt

Axt, Helmer ~ Peacefully passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at Leisureworld Care Centre, Elmira at the age of 94 years. Helmer was the beloved husband of Viola (Israel) Axt for almost 70 years. Dear father of Verneda Prentice of Waterloo. Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Brenda and Darryl McWaters of Hamilton, Brad and Laurie Prentice of Elmira, and by his great-grandchildren Grace and Nathalie McWaters, Ethan, Aidan and Rylie Prentice. Also survived by his sisters-in-law Pearl Spencer of Kitchener and Mary Israel of Listowel, and by his nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents William and Judith (Holzschuh) Axt, his son-in-law Carl Prentice (1998), his sister Thelma (Grant) Schneider, and his in-laws Roy (Edna) Israel, Percy Israel, Rella Clark and Walter Spencer. The family will receive their relatives and friends at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira on Sunday, January 20, 2013 from 1-4 p.m. only. A funeral service will be held at St. James Lutheran Church, Elmira on Monday, January 21, 2013 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Hans Borch officiating. Interment will follow in Elmira Union Cemetery. In Helmer’s memory, donations to St. James Lutheran Church would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
