Obituary of Joseph Anthony Brick
Brick, Joseph Anthony ~ It is with sadness and heavy hearts that our family announces the passing of Joe Brick of St. Clements at the age of 71, after a brief battle with cancer. Joe passed away peacefully at his home on February 4, 2017, with family and friends by his side. Joe is survived by his loving wife Helen (Lamont) of 48 years. Beloved father of Jolene and husband Jamie Lance of Elmira, and Jeremy and partner Jay Gifford. Proud grandfather to Hailey and Hunter Lance. Survived by brothers Henry (Linda), Phil (Cheryl), and Clayton (Pat); sisters Theresa Powers (Mike) and Rita Weber (Larry Eller); sisters-in-law Barb and Marie Brick, and brother-in-law Don Symonds; in-laws Donnie (Joan) Lamont, and Maryanne (nee Lamont )Kempleand Allan (Wendy) Lamont. Also remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents Anthony and Gertrude Brick; brothers George, Alfred, Albin, and twins Richard and Raymond Brick; sisters Kay (Jim) Powis and Florence Symonds, in-laws Isa and Neil Lamont, Grace and Jerry Spicer, Jean and Eugene Harrison, Norma and Lorne Harrison, Dorothy and Wally Forsyth, Liz and Gordon Spark and Gerald Kemple. Joe’s primary joy in life was spending time with his family, friends and especially his beloved grandchildren. His delightful sense of humour, mischievousness and passion for playing all types of games at social events, will truly be missed. Joe dedicated himself to family, friends, church, Paradise and District Lions Club, the community and fellow workers at Boehmer Box.He retired after 47 dedicated years of service. He touched many with the aim of making community a better place to live. Joe spent countless hours volunteering with the St. Clement’s RC Church and the Paradise and District Lions Club. He cherished the success and good will that can be achieved with team work. A special heartfelt thank you to the wonderful care provided by the staff at Care Partners and the CCAC. Family and friends will be welcomed on Friday, February 10, 2017, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, 62 Arthur St. S., Elmira. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2017, at 11 a.m. at St. Clement’s RC Church,3619 Lobsinger Line, St. Clements. A reception will follow at the St. Clements Community Centre. In Joe’s memory, and in lieu of flowers, donations to the new pavilion at Paradise and District Lions Park would be appreciated.
