Obituary of Doris Bast

Bast, Doris Marie ~ February 14, 1938 – August 1, 2012 ~ Doris Marie Bast at the age of 74, of St. Jacobs, died on Wednesday, August 1, 2012, as the result of injuries received in an accident. Daughter of the late Amos and Clara (Jantzi) Gerber. Beloved wife of Ralph Bast, whom she married on September 5, 1959. Lovingly remembered by her sons Dean and his wife Debbie and their children Leanne and Ryan of Kitchener, and Randy and his wife Dawn and their children Jacqueline and Lisa of Oakville. Dear sister of Ken Gerber and his wife Lucy of New Port Richey, Florida, Frank Gerber and his wife Joan of Port Elgin, and Sharon and her husband Jim Lebold of Bayfield. Sister-in-law of Betty and her husband Irwin Steckly of Stratford. Fondly remembered by several nieces and nephews. Doris was a longtime member of the Elmira Mennonite Church and the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada. Following Doris and Ralph’s marriage they lived in Millbank, moved to Elmira in 1974, and retired to St. Jacobs in 2000. Relatives and friends may call at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira on Saturday, August 4, 2012 from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A memorial service to celebrate Doris’s life and faith will be held on Sunday, August 5, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the Floradale Mennonite Church, Floradale.
