McKay, Douglas “Doug”
Peacefully passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at St. Mary’s General Hospital, Kitchener, at the age of 92 years. Doug, of Elmira formerly of Listowel, was the beloved husband of the late Jean (Foster) McKay (2000). Dear father of Catherine and David Linseman, David and Sharon McKay, and Barbara and Roger King. Loving grandfather of Amy and Tim McDougall, Beth and Ian Duncan, Jeff and Krista McKay, Annie and Tim Lichti, Dana King, and Robert and Marisa King. Great-papa to Kayla, Will, Anna, John, Brandon, Clara, and Ella. Cherished friend and companion of Elaine Hilliard and her family. Doug was the last surviving member of his family having been predeceased by three brothers and one sister. Doug was the fourth generation to farm on the McKay homestead. He enjoyed his retirement years in the Listowel Community. Doug’s family is grateful to the staff at Chartwell for their care and compassion in making Chartwell his home for the last two years. The family will receive their relatives and friends on Friday, January 27, 2017 from 7-9 p.m. at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, 62 Arthur St. S., Elmira. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 11 a.m., with visitation from 10-11 a.m., at Calvary United Church, 48 Hawkesville Rd., St. Jacobs. A reception will follow. Interment will be in Hawkesville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Mary’s Hospital Cardiac Care Unit would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
