When his father became ill, he took over the family farm where he grew corn, soybeans and grain and raised Angus beef cattle. A talented athlete, he shared his love and knowledge of sports and outdoor activities with his children and grandchildren, particularly at his cottage and maple bush on Lake Restoule. After his wife’s death, he was invited to move to Elmira to live with his grandson, John, and his family. An outgoing positive man who made the best of any situation, he loved being with his great-grandchildren, meeting new people and making new friends in Elmira.
