Obituary of Robert L. Thorpe
THORPE, Robert L. ~ Peacefully passed away on Sunday, March 4th, 2012 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Kitchener in his 93rd year. Survived by his sister Eileen Dreisinger and many nieces and nephews and their children. Predeceased by his father John Thorpe Sr. and mother Sybilla, brother Jack and his wife Francis, and nephew Michael Chris.
Bob loved all animals, especially horses. He worked alongside his father, for the Seagram Racing Stables until they retired from racing. He then became a supervisor of the mutual machines at Woodbine Racetrack in Milton.
As per Robert’s wishes, a private graveside service, with The Rev. Dr. Linda J. Bell officiating was held, with interment in Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo, beside his nephew, Michael Chris. Our grateful thanks to all the women of Community Care Services, especially Heather Higgs whose patience and understanding of Bob won ALL our hearts. To the doctors and nurses of St. Mary’s and Grand River Hospitals. How truly blessed we are in the K-W area to have these angels looking after us. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira.
