Obituary of Ruth Schwindt
Schwindt, Ruth ~ 1931- 2012 ~ Passed away peacefully to be with her Lord and Saviour on February 1, 2012, at Chateau Gardens in Elmira. Beloved wife of the late Ward Schwindt (1995). Loved mother of Craig (Kathy) Schwindt, Brenda Schwindt and Marion Chamberlain (Brian), all of Elmira. Loving grandmother of Kimberly, Erika Bartos (John), Kara, Camille, Luke (Danica) and Annie. Great-grandmother to Evalyn and Lucy Bartos. Special grandmother to the late Vu Pham (2010) and his wife Heather and sons Tyler, Jordan and Josh of Wingham. Special aunt to Linda Lanning of Montana. Predeceased by her parents Henry and Markareita Bitz. She was lovingly raised by Fred and Hannah Weber and their daughters. Survived by brothers and sisters Reinholt Bitz, Fred Bitz, Esther Kane, Leo Bitz, Russel Bitz, Irene Holden, Virginia Wanner, Sanda Kinsella and Ida Philips, all of Montana and Idaho. Survived by in-laws Homer Schwindt, Bruce Schwindt, Susan Holst and Eileen Gingrich. Fondly known as “Ruthie” to family and friends. She was born in a ‘soddy’ on the prairies of Montana, one of an extended family of 24. She met Ward, the love of her life, at Bethel Bible Institute in Saskatoon. They returned to Elmira in 1954 and in 1962 they purchased the Floradale Chopping Mill, later to become Floradale Feed Mill Limited. Ruth was active in her church, singing and teaching. She was a loving woman and her humour will be missed by many. The family would like to express sincere thanks to the Chateau Gardens staff and the Palliative Care Team for their wonderful care of Mom these past few months. Visitation will be held at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, 62 Arthur St. S., Elmira on Saturday, February 4th from 2-5 and 6-9 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, February 5th at 2 p.m. at the Elmira Pentecostal Assembly, 290 Arthur St. S., Elmira. Interment will follow at the Elmira Union Cemetery. Pastor Paul Snow to officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to PAOC Overseas Missions, the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of one’s choice.
