Obituary of Mary Hazel Brown
Peacefully passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2017, at Heritage House, St. Jacobs, at the age of 95 years. Mary (Blois) Brown was the beloved wife for 70 years of the late Howard R. Brown (February, 2013). Dear mother of David and Colleen of Elmira, Douglas and Jo Anne, Clyde and Leslie, all of Kitchener, Keith and Val of St. Catharines, Robert and Kathy, Howard and Pamela, all of Elmira. Also lovingly remembered by her 21 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Sister of Clyde (Hilda) Blois of Gore, Nova Scotia (on the Blois home farm). Lovingly remembered by Howard's family - sisters Betty Gingrich, Carol Stortz, and Sandra (Clinton) Rohr and brothers Jack (Helen) Brown and Bill (Joyce) Brown, and by many nieces, nephews and their families. Predeceased by her parents, Alfred and Daisy (Harvey) Blois, father-in-law and mother-in-law William and Gladys (Hahn) Brown, grandson Bryson Brown, and siblings Gladys (Charlie Burns), Ellen (Walter White), Florence (Lester Henniger), Shirley (Gerald Parker), Austin (Sally), Thelma (Geordie Phalen), Ruth (Laurie Ledwidge), John (Betty), and twins Harold and Olive, (in childhood), brothers-in-law, Clifford (in infancy), Cyril Stortz, Gordon Gingrich, and sisters-in-law, Jean (Walter) Hachborn, and Ruth (Wolf) Fink. Mary was a loving and dedicated mother and grandmother. She was a lifetime member of the Elmira Horticultural Society, and the Woolwich Agricultural Society. For many years she was an enthusiastic Elmira Fair exhibitor. The family will receive their relatives and friends on Sunday, January 22, 2017, from 2-5 p.m. at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira. A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 23, 2017, at 11 a.m. at St. James Lutheran Church, 60 Arthur St. S., Elmira, followed by interment in St. James Lutheran Cemetery, 6798 Line 86, Elmira. The family wish to express heartfelt thanks to the caring staff of Derbecker's Heritage House, St. Jacobs, for the excellent care Mom received. Mary will be missed by her roommate and best friend, Norma Snyder. In Mary's memory, donations may be made to the St. James Lutheran Church, the Elmira Horticultural Society or St. Mary's General Hospital.
