I remember Joan growing up on Claremont. We had many mutual friends from those days. Lao though I didn’t have a lot to do with her while in .Elmira, we did cross paths many times and shared some good times. My last chat with her was when she said she was moving back to downtown Waterloo. How I envied her! She was really excited. May she Rest In Peace. She was fun loving, and always generous with her time.

One of our favorite customers at McDonald's, always a smile and we enjoyed her visits with the kids. She once asked me why my flowers bloomed so well and hers didn't. Don't water them, they are desert flowers I told her. Great big laugh, but it worked for her too. We have lost a great lady.

Sometimes you are fortunate to meet people you immediately like, trust and just know they are good people. Joan was one of those. Everyone who met Joan is the better for it.
