Obituary of John Herbert Hill
Hill, John Herbert
September 27, 1924 – January 16, 2022 in his 98th year.
Passed away peacefully at Chartwell Long Term Care Home in Elmira to be with his beloved Savior. Reunited with his wife Geraldine (Dietz) Hill (2016) of 65 years and son Reginald (1953 in infancy).
Sadly missed by daughter Juliann and Mark Healey. Loving grandfather to Sean Healey, Ryan and Emily (Neeb) Healey. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Predeceased by parents Theodore and Julianna (Wagner) Hill; brother George and Florine Hill; sister Frieda (Hill) and Walter Holm; and brother Harold and Audrey Hill.
John farmed in Carrick Township for several years and in 1976 managed at the Clifford Feed Mill until retirement in 1988. John and Geraldine were longtime residents at the Chartwell Retirement Residence in Elmira. Sincere gratitude is expressed to all staff, present and past at Chartwell Retirement and Chartwell Long Term Care Home for their excellent care over the years.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 21, 2022 from 10 – 10:45 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 27 Mill St., Elmira with the funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. Burial in Clifford Cemetery following the service. Masks are required and social distancing measures will be observed.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to St. Mary’s General Hospital Foundation would be appreciated and can be made through the funeral home.
