Obituary of Jennifer Susan Picka

Jennifer Picka

Jennifer Susan (Jen) Picka, 54, of St Jacobs, formerly of Elmira, passed away on Sunday, October 3, 2021 at Grand River Hospital in Kitchener.

Jennifer was born to Ruth Crystal on March 19, 1967 and was adopted immediately by Brenda and Jaroslav Picka of Kitchener. She went to high school at Rockway Mennonite Collegiate and graduated in 1980. Jen was outgoing, making many friends in Elmira. She was an enthusiastic participant at Zion Mennonite Fellowship (the Junction), where she enjoyed playing the piano during worship or other social events, and where she was nurtured in her faith in Jesus. Jen had a heart for those who faced struggles in life and was generous in sharing what she had. She recently moved to Carpenter House in St. Jacobs.

Jennifer will be missed by her brother Jeffrey Picka of Fredericton, NB, and her half-sister, Janet Scott of Kitchener.

She is preceded in death by her birth mother, Ruth and her adoptive parents, Brenda and Jaroslav.

A service in celebration of Jen’s life will be held at 2 p.m. on November 6, 2021 at the Royal Canadian Legion, 11 First St. East, Elmira.

A private burial will take place at Woodland Cemetery in Kitchener. Arrangements entrusted to the Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira.
