Obituary of Joanne Dillon

Dillon, Joanne

Our beautiful mother passed away suddenly but peacefully on Sunday, September 26, 2021 at Columbia Forest in Waterloo in her 98th year. Mom resided at her home in Elmira until July 31, 2021 when she was admitted to St. Mary’s Hospital cardiac unit.

She was the devoted wife of Neil Dillon (2001) for 56 years. Mom was the cherished mother of Sister Pamela of Jesus, Janet Galberg (Flemming), Mary Delion (Bruce) and Jon Dillon. She was predeceased by her loved son Jim (Pam) in 2010.

Mom was the proud grandmother of 12 grandchildren: Johanna (Ted), Jeff, Tim (Chantal), Katie (Mark), Kristian (Lora), Jessica (Scott), Jennifer (Blair), Sarah, Heather (Matt), Stephanie (Jamie), Christopher, and Trevor, and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was the third child of twelve born to George Malleck and Madeline Collins. Mom is survived by her sisters Mary Izma and Betty (Bill) Law, and was predeceased by sisters Colleen, Ann and Susan and brothers Jim, Dick, David, Basil, John and Paul. She is survived by sisters-in-law Dorothy Malleck, Leone Malleck, Jackie Malleck, and Elaine Forler, and many nieces and nephews.

Mom will be greatly missed by Bob Rongits.

Mom had a long and happy life. She had a deep love for each of her children and grandchildren. Although her final days were difficult, Mom maintained her cheerful disposition. We will miss her.

The family will receive friends and relatives on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 from 2 – 4 p.m. and 5 – 7 p.m. at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, 62 Arthur St. S., Elmira.
