My condolences to Jim's family. He was always such a gracious gentleman. Whether it was competing at the rose show or meeting him in the grocery store he always had a pleasant greeting and ready to help you if he could. He will leave a big hole for the family and his aquaintances.

Wayne and I extend our condolence to Jim’s Family. He was a fine man and a true GentleMan and a special friend for many years. I served, with Jim, on the Board of the St James Seniors Residence in Elmira, he worked endless hours and was always available to sort out any issues that arose, night or day. The voluntary contributions of his time and efforts to this Residence were monumental. Jim had a brilliant mind and took on any task with vigour. He gave his all to any project he took on, and they were numerous. I will miss his constant good humour and the many long conversations. He had an interesting story to tell at all times.
He will be missed by many.

Dear John, Mary-Lou, Sally and Nancy and families,
My life as part of the Scherrer family began when I met Joe and I met Jim and Gertie early on. He was a great older brother and when I met Jim and Gertie John was just a toddler. Gertie set a beautiful dinner for us in Macton. Jim was the best man at our wedding in 1955. He was a wonderful support to me when Joe passed away. I will never forget his kindness.
As much as I cannot be with all of you at this time, I am sending all my love and prayers.
Love, Auntie Sally

I have so many memories of weekends spent in Lakelet at Bill and Marilyn's cottage with Sue, Brenda, and Sigrid and the many times we would get together with Jim and Gertie, especially the Sunday morning services at their cottage. What a wonderful, sweet man he was. Although I have not seen the family since those days, the memories I have of Bill and Jim will remain.

A fond memory I have of Uncle Jim is the competition between the family cottages of who will catch the biggest Bass of the weekend (at Lakelet) and his dog Heidi who couldn't even catch a 3-legged chipmunk. When I turned 19 I bought a bottle of Bushmill Irish Whiskey and we went fishing. We came home with no fish but green around the gills. We are thinking of all of you during this time and hope that you take comfort in all the memories shared.

A piece of my heart broke upon hearing of the loss of Uncle Jimmy - I was very blessed to have Uncle Jim and Aunt Gertie as my Godparents - a beautiful example of Christian love through my life. I have so many memories from vacation time in Macton, sleep overs in Elmira and wonderful visits in Lakelet - especially when my dad and mom had their trailer next door. I am truly disappointed that I am unable to attend the funeral service on Saturday. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with all of you - sending you healing love. Dear John, Mary-Lou, Sally and Nancy:
Upon hearing the news the memory that jumped into my head was a visit at the cottage coming back from mass and sitting in the front seat as we were all in one vehicle and the joke of how we knew the train had passed by.
He is now with your mom, his soul mate, once again.
Our love and thoughts with all of you,
Mark and Lorna Wendling

Dear John, Mary Lou, Sally, Nancy, and family;
The fond memories of Lakelet cottage time, bass fishing on many evening on the lake and at the cove, the family shoreline lunches, campfires with who ever was around to share the time with, the goose hunting days, along with simply sitting back and “shooting the breeze” with a beverage in hand will keep Jim's and Gertie's memories kindled for us all. Elmira visits were always highlights with his genuine warmth and care for family and friends who dropped by.
Our deepest sympathy and condolences in Uncle Jim’s passing.
May he rest in peace.
Steve and Michele Scherrer
