Good Morning, to the Downey Family.
As we watched you all yesterday, standing strong, honouring your father, and friend at the visitation, I gave thanks for each one of you and wanted to say, again, how impressed I am (and have always been) by the love your family exudes. No family is perfect. We all have our challenges and our emotional roller coaster moments, but what impresses me, is the love you all have for each other and most of all for your Dad. Death has a way of uniting our hearts. But most of all love has a way of uniting our souls. That shows in your family. We, again, express our deepest sympathies as you continue to grieve the loss of "Mr. Downey." His life, most worthy of celebrating today, lives on in each of you and because of that, the world is a better place. Love and hugs to you all. (P.S. Thanks, Darlene, for introducing me to your family so many years ago. Extra hugs to you, my sweet friend). xx

Sincere condolence to you all. Maurice was a wonderful member of our neigbourhood. His vegetables, flowers, finely pruned shrubbery and lawn were the envy of us all here on High, George and Charles Streets. We missed seeing Maurice over the last many months as he always walked over to share a story of his life or to listen to a new one from us. Our friend, Maurice, is already greatly missed.

I am sending this on behalf of my Dad, Joe Mayne. When I told him of Maurice's passing he recalled working with Maurice many years ago doing carpentry. My Dad said Maurice was a meticulous carpenter with a natural ability, and that he was just a pleasure to work with.
He will be missed. RIP Maurice.

Dear Murray and Linda, please accept our sincere condolences on the passing of your father (in-law). I remember how you both brought him to our dad's visitation. Maurice lived a good long life, but unfortunately did not make it to his 90th. May your memories of all the times spent together bring a smile to your faces. Please extend our sympathies to the rest of your family. Love and prayers, Tim and Sandra (Early) Gray, Guelph

Maurice and Rose were my godparents and the best years of my childhood were spent with the Downey family.
I loved when our families (with a total of eleven children) would get together and the many, many times we spent in the Downey kitchen, the parents playing cards, Rose making tray after tray of cheese and bacon on a bun for all the kids, while listening to our parents laughing and joking and having a good time. Those days are long gone but will never be forgotten or stop bringing a smile to my face and a warmness to my heart.
I'm so sorry to hear of Maurice's passing and I send warm hugs in my prayers to all the family.
Lots of love from Tammy Martin and family

So very sorry to hear of Morris’s passing. Deepest sympathy to all. The last time we seen Morris, was at Kerry’s. He was sipping a drink and telling us about his many trips to Vegas. What interesting stories, and such a nice visit. He was a great guy, really likeable. Our thoughts are with you during this difficult time.
