To me, Lydia Ann was a woman of strength and dignity who raised her family under the eyes of the church while carrying out the tasks of a Mennonite pastor's wife.. I admired her for that and wondered how she did it. In her years at Fairview Home and Preston Mennonite, her love of God and family, interest in others and her engaging smile was was a beautiful gift. Her seat at church will be empty when we open again and she will be missed. You have my deepest sympathy on your loss. Nancy Kinsie.

Lydia Ann is a very special lady and exemplified Christian qualities in every way. She made a lasting imprint on me, Wendy, and my daughter, Heather. When we played the piano or sang at Preston Mennonite Church, she was always one of the first members to arrive each Sunday, usually bringing along a friend of hers from Fairview. She would always smile and wave at us and often we would chat for a bit beforehand. After the service, she waited until we finished and and always would chat before she left for home. She was interested in our lives and supportive of our endeavours. We greatly appreciated this. We admired her energy, her positivity and her peacefulness. We will miss her but we won’t forget her.

Aunt Lyda Ann was a treasure, and treasured by everyone who knew her. She was valued by so many, including our family. Our children were connected to her, an amazing feat for a great aunt connection.
I felt like I knew her family, to the great grand children because you all stay connected with her and her story telling and picture sharing was, so interesting! She would always have a little chuckle whenever talking about you.
She always wanted to put others first and sometimes needed reminding that it was her that we were there to visit. That she mattered to us.
It was always fun to know she was going to ask and want to see what car I had driven there with. Taking her for a ride in the convertible was so much fun! She always noticed when we changed cars, even if the colour stayed the same. Makes me smile just thinking about her.
Always eager to pray together. Always praying for others.
Thank you to Julie and Carol for your daily care taking of her over the last long months. You were prayed for and blessed by many during this time.
Thank you for sharing your wonderful mother, grand mother with all of us!

When I attend my great Aunt Lydia Ann's 100th birthday party (almost 5 years ago), I will always remember what she said to me after I wished her a happy birthday. She asked me how my twins were doing! She had never met them but she new that I had twins (who are now 10 years old) and I'm pretty sure that they were included in her prayers, just like everyone else was. Even though my 3 kids never met their great great aunt, they think it's pretty special that they had a great great aunt as old as she was. To this day, I am amazed by her memory at that age, her zest for life and her love for family. She will be missed by so many people but she lived an incredible life and I'm sure she's having a great time being reunited with my grandma (Annie Bauman) and the rest of her family. With much love, Janice (Bauman) Malloy (granddaughter of Annie & Addison Bauman)

I love the memories I have of Lydia Ann whenever she was a guest at the same event as I was at Charlie and Carol's. Sometimes that was a family birthday, or Thanksgiving. She was always smiling, caring, and interested in others. And an amazing zest for living, a real role model. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Great-Aunt Lydia Ann and her sister Annie, (my Grandma Bauman) looked so much alike!!! Over the years, our band would sing once a year at Fairview's Sunday evening program. Aunt Lydia Ann was alway BEAMING in the audience, and eager to chat afterward. In the last couple of years I had the opportunity to see Aunt Lydia Ann more regularly at Fairview as my in-laws moved into the Fairview Assisting Living Suites, and the last year she was my mother-in-law's "next door" neighbour in the same hallway. Aunt Lydia Ann exuded friendliness, hospitality, such a welcoming spirit and a purpose-filled life. May she have peace. Sincerely, - Marcia; Addison and Annie's granddaughter.

We send our sympathies and share your grief but hold precious memories in our hearts of our dear Aunt Lydia Ann ! When our father Simeon Hurst moved into Fairview in 2012 - his remaining sibling / sister Lydia Ann took him under her wing . We so often enjoyed their company at mealtime - they always shared a table and occasionally had the company of her children too.We so appreciated what she did for Dad right up to his passing in 2014. Our last visit was in Nov 2019 before Covid when the picture was taken. Praise the Lord they're all together now ! Elwood and Marjorie Hurst for Nancy ,Mary ( Harvey ) and Ruth (David )

Lydia Ann was a gem, a true lady. When my mother (L.A.'s sister-in-law) resided at Fairview Menn. Nursing Home, Lydia Ann, who lived in the adjoining apartments visited Mom EVERY day-sometimes several times daily- for 7 years!!! Always very welcoming, L.A. shared her many photo albums, proud of her family. And for her 100th birthday she sent a 'hand' written invitation!!! All who knew her saw her Saviour's love revealed.
