I have great memories of Kevin & Char, Arn & Sue, Trish & Elsie and myself ... the Provident Gang getting together before and after the selling of Provident Bookstore. We had great times eating together, talking and of course playing games. I fondly remember playing the game Rummy (I believe that was the name)...tiles with different runs and sets you needed to get to be able to get another tile. I believe Willie was often the winner. I often struggled to get even a 2nd tile. LOL The gathering at my parents when the screen door was pulled with the garbage bag outside the door as we sat around the fire pit...a skunk coming to the door and my heart beating so fast as I prayed the skunk would not spray the inside of the trailer. Finally the skunk moved on...much to my relief!! Visiting at each of our homes. So many good times together. Willie, you will be missed by those who love you. You were a great man, on earth, and now in Heaven. See you on the other side! Janet

Barry and I are sad to hear of Uncle Willie’s passing. He was a favourite uncle from the East that came to visit with Aunt Eva, Greg and Heather. We always enjoyed our visits with him. It was nice to visit with Uncle Willie and Aunt Eva the last time mom and I came to Ontario. He was a strong, determined and loving man whom we will miss.

Aunt Eva, Greg, Heather and family, we are sorry for your loss.
We remember Uncle Willie as a young man visiting grandma (his mom) when we still lived on the farm. He was always very animated and liked to talk about sports he participated in and followed.
We have good memories of visiting your home on the hill in St.Jacobs as well. There were fun activities to enjoy. Uncle Willie always had a welcoming smile when we would meet, even after he had suffered his stroke. He will be greatly missed.
We are sorry we can not be with you at this time, please know we are thinking of you and our hearts are with you.
Love, Gwen, Gail and Bonnie (Snyder)

Eva, we wish to offer our condolences on behalf of Stroke Recovery Association Cambridge and District in your loss of Willis! A lot of our members have expressed their condolences, and asked that we pass them on. Willis and you were valued members of the Association, and Willis will certainly be missed. Willis always projected a great acceptance of his experience with stroke, although I am sure he had some struggles with it. He had always been a very active person, and continued to be as much as possible after his episode. May you experience peace as you journey on.

Willie and Eva were great neighbors of ours, when we moved to the neighborhood in 1979. They welcomed us just like we were part of their family. We enjoyed swimming in their pool and also enjoyed Christmas Dinner with them and the kids.
Whenever there was a job to be done Willie would be the first to volunteer, even if he had something else to do. Willie had character and always did the right thing.
Bob and Willie would spend endless hours chatting over the fence. When he really wanted to relax he would stare into our back pond. Willie will be missed as he was an extremely big part of the community of St. Jacobs and a big part of his family. Big hugs to the whole family, we are thinking of you at this sad time!

The Schelter family sends along our condolences to our neighbours the Martin family. So many memories have come flooding back these last few days - Willie teaching me and Heather how to hit a golf ball in the back yard, crawling and crying as Willie took all the kids across the railway bridge and I was so scared - He got me over it though, fun in the pool, and playing ambulance in Willies Bell truck. Lots of meals together and lots of fun back and forth. Elderberry pie my mom made after Willie and my dad picked and cleaned them - we would have a BBQ and eat pie - it was always a great neighbourhood tradition. May God be with you over these next days of mourning and memories. Bonnie

My strongest memory is more a sensation or a feeling I have while thinking of Willie. It is a feeling of comfort and familiarity that grew over the nearly 50 years that Greg,Brent, Kenton and I have been friends. Our meetings were not frequent but whenever we would meet, our conversation would inevitably turn to a discussion about the “Leafs” or the “Jays” or sports in general. I will miss our banter. Condolences to Eva,Greg,Heather and your extended family.

I worked with Eva at Provident for quite a number of years. We had many good times being in their pool, making homemade ice cream, bbq and lots of game nights.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Years ago, Willie and I traveled to Marathon with Greg to help Greg move his family to Southern Ontario. The Uhaul truck was loaded mid-day on a Saturday and Willie was set on heading south right away. Willie and I spent 17 hours together in that truck driving through the night. As kid growing up, you had a respect for your best friend's dad. On that long drive I was able to build a deeper understanding of Willie. He told many stories while I drove. I always liked Willie but after that we were just a bit more excited to see each other. Handshakes were a bit firmer, greetings more heartfelt. God speed Willie. I was blessed to know you.
Our heart felt condolences to Eva, Greg, Yvette,Heather, Hailey, Josh and Chelsea.
