I would like to extend my condolences to Marty's family and friends. I did not know Marty for long in our business doing work at each other's place, however it was a great pleasure working with him. He was always incredibly friendly. One day I had Marty send his concrete truck to pour a pad at my house. He stopped by when he didn't need to just to check in. I was not feeling well and he picked up the rake and jumped in to finish no questions asked. Great man.

My condolences to Marten's friends and family. Marten was one of my favourite grade 4 students when I was his teacher and principal at Salem P.S. His middle name could have been Positive.A strong active boy ,he seemed to wear a perpetual grin. One could not help but like and love him .Although I have not spoken to Martin ,I have often thought of him.His obituary confirms my belief that Martin would mature into a cherished member of society.Thank you for writing a touching picture of Martin.

To Jean and Marty’s family
We have known Marty for many years. Chuck taught Marty how to do cement sidewalks, at the start of his business and when he asked for the lesson.
He was always happy, and a go-getter.
We are so sad to hear of his leaving us.
To you all we wish for peace in knowing that Marty is with his maker.
Our deepest sympathy to you all.

My deepest condolences Jean, Ellen, Susan and families. Memories of Marty take me back when we were kids. I remember Susan and I selling corn out of the back of his truck at the stockyards. He always had a nice truck and succeeded at everything he went to do. So glad I bumped into him a couple years back. RIP Marty, you will be missed.

Marty was a wonderful person, who was always there to help a friend or family member. He sure loved to tell stories, and boy could he tell them! He will be very missed by many, and a huge void will be felt by many. As much as he loved his work, he loved his family even more. He was very proud of his family, especially his children, Chloe and Austin. I’m so grateful, I had the opportunity to know Marty, he has given me some good memories to hold onto.

My deepest condolences and love go out to the entire Trapp family, along with the very long list of friends and loved ones of Marty. He was truly one of a kind... a giant teddy bear with a contagious laugh, bone breaking handshake, and hugs like no other. I'm grateful to have had you looking over me the last 35 years Martin, through the ups and the downs you were always there to set me in my place or give me a hug when it was needed. You couldn't keep a secret worth a damn but it sure led to a lot of funny stories :) I'll never forget the love, laughs, and words of wisdom. Thank you for being our enforcer, bodyguard, great friend, and voice of reason... for me, the boys, and BZ. We miss you and love you dearly, and know that you'll always be protecting us. xo

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time. Marty and Craig worked together for many years and his loss will be immense and felt daily. Through the years our kids got to know Marty, and he was lovingly referred to as "Uncle Marty" in our home. We never told Marty this, and now we wish we had. It gives us some peace to know he is no longer in pain. We will miss you "Uncle Marty". Love Craig, Tracy, Connor, Cody, Makenna & Brookelynn Kroetsch

Marty was my second cousin, yet I really only knew him as a child. My sister and I were friends of his sister, Ellen, and we spent many happy Saturdays on their farm south of Elora. Marty and Jay were much younger than us, so while aware of them being around, they were boys, so we tended to ignore them. LOL Unfortunately, I only saw the grown Marty a couple of times at Seiling family reunions. It was when his children were just toddlers. I am sorry I didn't get to know him better, as it sounds like he was a pretty special guy. My sincere condolences to his mom, Jean, and cousins Ellen and Susan, as well as his children and their families. Thinking of all of you at this very sad time.
