Please accept my condolences to the Barbour family, on the recent passing of Gary.
I thought I would share a time spent with Gary, while on a Co-op work term in Montreal during the summer of 1974 at a company called AES Data. We had brought our bikes, and enjoyed cycling around Montreal (despite the traffic). I am to the left, Gary (of course) in the middle and Dave Frank, to the right. The first photo was taken outside of the balcony of the one bedroom apartment that we shared (low budget). The second photo is Gary posing in front of the development system for the AES processor: the paper tape necklace, was the preferred means of transferring data to another computer. In 1974, we were involved in the dawn of microprocessors!! The third photo is Gary and I posing on a large bench, which I do not remember where it is.
Cheers, Robert Snell (Class of '77. EE)

Gundi and family
Don’t know if this will find you but I want to extend my sympathies to you on Gary’s passing. I was in his high school class all through our time at F E Madill and other things like cross country. Gary always managed to out do me in class as I believe in our high school graduation he was second overall; and I was next. He was brilliant. I believe I ran across him at a swimming meet when our children were competing. We were close till university and unfortunately drifted apart. I have fond memories of our discussions and experiences - we were not always “good boys” when together! I am sure he had as stellar career and it sounds like his last years were not kind. I will always remember him fondly. KK

Gundi and family;
I just read of Gary's passing in our local paper. Although you and I have never met, Gary and I were close friends growing up together in Belgrave and I have many great memories of those times. I am very sorry for your loss and I am sure he will be missed.

Although not having seen Gary much over the past number of years, I have SO many wonderful childhood memories of spending time with your family. Growing up in Glen Allan and being friends and neighbours with you was a real blessing and was just so much fun! Gary was always so nice and friendly. Plus that witty sense of humour was always just slightly under the surface of his otherwise quiet personality. I loved spending time with all of you. My condolences to you Gundi and Nick and the rest of the family. Gary was truly a great guy.

Dear Gundi,
What a shock to read of the passing of Gary. I will always remember him as such a quiet, patient man. You two had so many good times together travelling and enjoying life together. I know we haven’t been in touch these last few years but you have never been far from me in thought. I won’t even start on all the memories of times shared when we were Glen Allen neighbours. Our boys also spent so much time together growing up. My thoughts and prayers are with you as you move through this.
Love and hugs,
Ellen

Gary was a loving and devoted grandpa who loved to share his knowledge and views of the world, as well his silly side and humour with his grandchildren. We have many happy memories of all the wonderful times spent together.

Gary was a truly generous and supportive person. I first met him when he came to act as our team ringer at the Edubon. It was my first ever experience curling and he generously took time to teach and encourage me. It was an honour to play with and learn from Gary. Gundi, my deepest sympathies to you and your family. ❤
