Barry and Family,
We were very saddened to see of the passing of Karen.
Terry remembers good times when Karen supported the band members by coming to listen to them.
She was always a friendly face at the bank and would take the time to speak to everyone.
Please accept our deepest sympathy.

I got to know Karen through Gale Presbyterian but our paths also crossed once while on vacation in Cuba and again on the oncology ward at Grand River. Karen became a good friend as we shared our cancer experience as well as other things in common, and as she helped me (goaded me) in becoming more involved in the church. I will miss her greatly and my thoughts go out to Barry and family.

I met Karen three years ago in the oncology dept of Grand River Hospital. We were both diagnosed with breast cancer.
I soon knew that she was a very special person. I quickly became friends with her & Jane. They were a couple of fun loving gals. We stayed in touch & had some fun times at each other's places. It was best not to go to a restaurant because these visits lasted many hours. They had such wonderful stories to tell & we had a lot of laughs. One day the nurses in the chemo suite told us "you gals are just having too much fun".
Cancer brought us together, now cancer has torn us apart,
But the precious years we had will be forever in my heart.
My heartfelt condolences to Barry & family, Linda Janssen

Dear Barry and family:
We are very saddened by Karen's passing. We treasure our many memories of being on the fundraising committee together - I remember Karen leading stretching exercises in the middle of the morning when we were making apple pies in the old Church, and rolling pastry between plastic until we got good at it! Her dedication at helping arrange for volunteers for the luncheons...our Halloween exploits. She was a wonderful person and we will miss her more than words can say.

Dear Barry and Family,
We are so very sorry for your loss. Karen was a kind, gentle, compassionate person who had such inner strength. I recall when she was first diagnosed with cancer, how brave and calm she appeared, and how matter-of-factly she accepted the diagnosis. There was no self-pity, but an acceptance of her situation, and an attitude of doing what had to be done to try and beat the cancer.
Karen will be missed so much at Gale Church where she was a diligent, faithful volunteer for many years. The Tuesday luncheons will never be the same without her behind the scenes efforts to organize enough helpers to make them run smoothly.
Do hang onto your many good memories of time spent with Karen - wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, and aunt.
