Obituary of George Jansen

Jansen, George (Gerebrecht) passed away peacefully surrounded by family in the early hours of Saturday, December 25, 2010 at the KW Health Centre of Grand River Hospital. He was born November 25, 1929 in Ermelo, the Netherlands, to the late Aalt and Evertjen Jansen. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years Mary (Knevel) Jansen and his children Aalt (Angela) Jansen, Andrew Jansen, Eveline (Rod) Gaede, Pamela (Rob) Martyn and Patricia (Mark) Morris. Adored and cherished Opa of James (Emily), Jordan, Nick (Tara), Chris, Jim, Aalt, Colby; loving great-Opa to Nash. “Quietly making your way, always looking out for your family, you put us first, not in a flashy or obvious way but in a way that counts.” He was known to friends and family as a jack of all trades who could fix or build anything. He worked the majority of his life at Lackie Bros. of Kitchener and after retirement, enjoyed his part time work at Home Hardware in Elmira. George was a loyal and faithful member of the Elmira Missionary Church. “For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:6. George's family will receive friends and relatives at Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira on Monday, December 27, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the Emmanuel Evangelical Missionary Church, Elmira on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at 11 a.m. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff on the Oncology floor at Grand River Hospital for their expertise and compassion.
