When I graduated as a laboratory technologist many years ago, Stella hired me and she was my first boss. Over the years, and to this day, I always say she was the best boss I ever had! After leaving Kitchener I moved around and out of the country for a few years and we lost touch. Then as fate would have it we reconnected again when my husband was working at Park-Med. We lost touch again as I moved again. A year or so ago, I was in touch with some of the old lab crew from Kitchener. We had all lost touch with Stella but we all said we thought of her often and had tried to find her but to no avail. I don't know why but today I was thinking about Stella. I thought I would try once more to see if I could locate her through the wonders of the internet. So sorry to find this notice of her passing. I have so many great memories of Stella. I can still picture her striding in to the lab with purpose wearing funky platformed heeled yellow shoes which were adorned with a big blue bow with white dots! Stella was indeed a special lady and a true gem. She will not be forgotten by anyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. Would have loved to have had the opportunity to have a last visit and conversation with her.. My condolences to all her family and friends.

I can't begin to explain the shock I felt when I saw Stella's obituary. Stella and I had worked together many ears ago at Park Med Labs, then later she brought me on board at RKT Computers. She was more than a colleague. She became my mentor and our friendship grew to become so much more than that. I enjoyed every moment we spent together. She was old soul but also a breath of fresh air. She loved to read and share her knowledge with anyone who was interested in addition to her vast array of interests. She always had a "gem" to pass on for growth and development. Her smile was infectious. I had the honour and privilege when she agreed to be in my wedding party. Of course the day was special, but more so because she was there to share it with us.
Unfortunately, shortly after her wedding to Dan, we somehow lost touch. I like to believe it was just because of life changes and happiness that we drifted. I've missed her in my life and tried to find her through the years, expecting her to pop up on Facebook or LinkedIn. That never happened. Last night I just thought to google her and her obituary popped up. I felt the blood drain from my face. My heart is broken, but more importantly it's broken for her loved ones, especially Dan. You've lost an amazing person. Please accept my families condolences for your loss and tragedy. Remember her as only you can. Treasure the time together and the memories shared. She'll always be with you.

Our cousin Stella. We will remember her always for her exceptionally kind, gentle, passionate & lovingly quirky spirit.
One of Stella's treasures was her beautiful walking doll named "Veronica". It may not sound like much, but as a child, having a cousin generous enough to let me play with that doll meant everything. That was Stella's way. That was her life long mark. If she could, she would. Always. Her love and kindness knew no bounds.
Thank you Stella, we will miss you and will be forever grateful for the wonderful memories. We were blessed to have shared our lives with you, cousins all the way from Scotland to Canada. The Mitchell kids; Louise, Angela, Paul, Robert, Edith, & Gerard and, the Meechan kids; Stella, Elizabeth, Cathy.
Rest easy Stella. The nieces and nephews you loved so deeply will continue your story.
Dan, my sincere condolences,
Edith Mitchell-Wilkinson

Please accept my deepest condolences on your loss. Stella was an amazing person. I got to know her while my husband was a resident at Trinity and then later as a volunteer.
We would often walk arm in arm down the hallways of Cherry Orchard talking about jewelry and stuffed toys.
She would always greet my with a hug and a kiss on the cheek. It must be close to three months since volunteers have not been able to go to the home, my last time I was there we hugged each other I told her that I will see ner soon, she gave me a kiss on the cheek and said you are my best friend. I will treasure her memory

Dear Dan and family,
It is with sadness that we learned of Stella's passing. We have fond memories sharing with you two, especially singing at your wedding up north and visiting with you in St. Jacob's. We certainly had contacts with you over the years and with your family. The last years, we know, have been difficult but you helped her to meet those challenges. Stella was a beautiful person. God bless all of you during this difficult time. We will pray for her and for all of you.
Love, Gerry and Pat Grundy

We were so saddened to hear of Stella’s passing. We haven’t been in touch in recent years but Stella and I (Barb) go back to school days when we both lived in Gorrie. I will never forget the first time I was at her parents house for dinner. I had to keep asking her what her parents were saying because of their Scottish accent. We spent an amazing amount of time together in those days and she was my best friend and maid of honour at our wedding 50 years ago. She will be sadly missed by all who had the opportunity to meet her. Love and miss you Stella..
