Maryellen, Rod, Todd, and your family, our heartfelt condolences to you. Some of my fondest memories growing up involve the Henderson family Christmas gatherings and the special visit from Herb dressed as Santa, laughing and handing out gifts (with his own brand of commentary!). Todd, Rod and Maryellen. I am so sorry, to hear of the sudden loss of "Herb". As a Minor hockey player growing up in Elmira,On. Herb was one of the few coaches that I can still recall after all these years. His mandatory discipline and on ice work ethic is something that I have tried to pass onto others over the years. Our community has lost a bright star. Herb shared his love of hockey with so many. I am sure he passed his love of the game and hockey skills on to the teams he coached. I am so glad my son experienced playing on his team. I am so sorry.

Mary Ellen and Family: Bruce & I are saddened to hear of Herb's passing. He was a gentle giant in so many ways. His involvement and dedication with local hockey, curling, church family and the Elmira Legion speaks volumes of his love of people and passion for helping where he could. We will miss our chats with him when he took Laci for a walk past our home.

Dear Mary Ellen - We were shocked to hear of Herb's passing. I had a lot of good times over the many years that Herb & I both worked at Riveradle Poultry Express in Elmira. Always bringing us girls at work a yellow rose on his birthday, which was close to Valentine's day, plus of course the famous Long Johns from Hillcrest Bakery in Floradale. He will really be missed. You and your family have our deepest sympathy.

Herb was a guy who always had time to listen to a story and find the humor in the details. I enjoyed every conversation we had at the rink, his house or bumping into him in town. He was the hockey coach who would focus on the details to help us win.A true gentleman who was proud of his kids and grandkids. Elmira has lost a fine man but his teaching will live on forever. My deepest condolonces to Maryellen Rod and Todd. Herb was truly one of my favourite people..larger than lìfe from the hockey rink to the curling rink. I recall when Herb drove the lil mini...how did such a big guy drive such a small car?...lol...great memories of Herb and hanging at the house on Chickadee in the early years.
