I am so sorry for you loss, under such difficult circumstances.

My parents valued their friendship with you, and I know the four of you had many good times together. Dad also fondly remembers singing with Floyd.

I only met Floyd for a short time, as he retired shortly after I joined Home Hardware. What I remember was his hard work and friendly demeanor. I met him from time to time at some of the Home Hardware events.

Here is a portrait my Dad took of Floyd in 1961. I'm sure he took many more photos of him, they were very good friends for many years...

Aunt Irma and family. Our sincerest condolences to you and all your family. I have many happy memories, as I was growing up, of Sunday afternoon visits to your house. For us it was an adventure, as we didn't travel much as a family. I have fond memories of Uncle Floyd being the pianist for our wedding.He was so patient with the "special music" being provided by my nieces and nephews who were very young at the time. May Uncle Floyd rest in peace.

Hi Dad. Just wanted to say thanks for all the wonderful memories you gave us. The lessons you taught us, not just with words, but by being such a great role model. There have been times when people have said “you’re so much like your dad” and that’s the biggest compliment they could give. But the best part was definitely the memories. Teaching me to read from Dr. Seuss – you must have read “One Fish Two Fish” to me a thousand times. Walking with you to the St. Jacobs library and browsing those beautiful old wooden shelves for interesting new authors, thank you for the gift of loving to read. Sitting on the back porch during thunderstorms and marvelling at the power of nature while mom worried about us from the safety of the kitchen. Thank for you the gift of wonder and awe. Listening to you practice piano in the living room with Paul singing as I had my ear to the heat register, thank you for the gift of music and sharing with us what a truly special treasure that is. Trips to the beach, even though you couldn’t swim, thanks for the gift of loving the water anyway. Sitting with you on a wintery Sunday afternoon while you sorted through your stamp collection, thank you for the gift of the appreciation of geography, history, peoples of the world and culture. The incredible care you took of us, mom, our home, thanks for the gift of understanding the values of hard work, self-reliance, independent and continuous learning, and attention to detail. Your love of cheese, and trying new food, thanks for the gift of curiosity. Your love of exploring new roads, driving to new places, “just to see where it goes”, thanks for the gift of loving adventure.
So many memories, I am so grateful to have had you in my life for so long, many people are not that blessed. I know that you are still here with me, I can hear you talking to me and laughing, I know that your spirit is at peace and your body is finally at rest. I miss you anyway. Love you Dad, see you later.
