We remember Lewis and Erma camping with us and Gert & Cora Holterman at Round lake many years ago. One day Lewis and me went out in his boat to do some fishing and on the return from the lake going thru a tributary back to our campsite we hit a log, the motor went up and down into the water all the time lewis holding on to the throttle. We did get back to shore and after an afternoon of working on the motor unceasing it Lewis managed to get it running again.
The same week of camping we had Racoons in the park checking out garbage pails at each campsite in the middle of the night, we heard Lewis hollering and went out to watch him with a stick beat on the garbage pail chasing the racoons off. Good memories and good friends. RIP Lewis.
