We both have such good memories of Allan over the years, Those memories began during our years at Emmaus in Oak Park, Ill. After that we kept in touch the best we could as Al and Helena served in India and Africa, and we were in Asia. In more recent years we remember so many good visits with both of them. Their hospitality and generosity were always so great. Al was ever interested in and knowledgeable of the Lord's work in all areas. Al was rock solid in his faith and yet gracious and kind in his demeanor. His interest in others, his gracious attitude, and his sense humor are all blended into our memories of Allan. He imparted a desire for one to be more like him in these characteristics. He has departed now to be with his Savior and Lord whom he loved and served so faithfully. We rejoice with him in that, and yet while we truly miss him here we look forward, soon, to seeing him again in the Lord's eternal presence. Warren and Flo Dunham

Hi Heather, Orvie, Helena & Family,
My deepest sympathies to all of you. My heart goes out to you and, if I could send you a hug, I would. What a joy to be able to participate in the service online. It was truly wonderful and God was glorified. Listening, participating and enjoying the pictures brought back so many memories of my time at Woodside. Allan's wise counsel in meetings and whenever he dropped into the office (quite often...smile), and the friendship he and all of you offered me, a newcomer to the church and to the area was so important and precious to me. I too was a bit intimidated by Allan in the beginning but after several meals at your house Helena when you were hosting a missionary or two and fun times at your house, Heather and Orvie, helped me see a very different side to Allan. May God wrap His arms around each of you and pour out His love and healing to your hearts at this time. Love, Heather

I have a lot of fond memories related to Allan. Growing up in the same Hawkesville Chapel young people's group, playing hockey in the church league, working on the farm in summer, then riding our bikes to Hawkesville for a swim in the Conestoga river after a long hot day haying or threshing. Had the privilege of chauffeuring Allan and Helena on their wedding day, and seeing my wife Mary Anne fill in as bridesmaid for Helena's sister who had the chicken pox. We enjoyed a week with Allan and Helena
at a Bill Gothard seminar in Chicago one summer and stayed at my sister Naomi's for the week.
I enjoyed the God honoring remembrance service, including the meaningful hymns. Another hymn " Be Still My Soul. The Lord is on thy side has been on my mind for some time, "bear patiently the cross of grief or pain. Leave to thy God to order and provide. in every change he faithful will remain. Last verse says "Be still my soul, the hour is hastening on when we shall be forever with the Lord"
Another verse says "through thorny ways leads to a joyful end. These are really scriptural promises we know are true.
The Lord bless and comfort you, Helena and family

Dear Helena and Family,
We have some wonderful memories of our time spent chatting with Allan at Wildwood Bible Camp. Over the years at Family Camp, we enjoyed really meaningful conversations with him in the lodge, usually with a hot drink, lingering long after the end of a meal. He was interested in our lives, and was also interesting and encouraging to talk to. The impact of his life and community, wherever God put him, is an encouragement and challenge for all of us. We are praying that you and your family near and far will feel God's peace and presence.

What blessed me again and again about Allan and Helena is that no matter where or how many people were present, whenever we were at the same event anywhere, they always made their way through the crowd to come and ask how things are going before I managed to get through to them, and were eager for an update. I have memories of meeting up long ago in India, and memories of our only once at Clair Hills. I'm grateful for Allan's example of passion for the Gospel to go out, and am now grateful with him for his grand release. And, Helena, I am praying for you and trusting the Lord with you to grant you comfort, courage and grace for the onward journey without Allan. But not without family and friends. And not without the Lord.

My heartfelt sympathy to Allan's family. I have many fond memories of growing up across the road as I spent lots of time in that household. I also remember when Allan was so sick in the hospital. We were on the same telephone party line and my parents told us to stay off the phone at a certain time each day because that was when the Hoffmans got their daily update on Allan's condition. I remember the joyous times when Allan & Helena were getting married and later when they were preparing to go overseas. More recently I remember Allan for his smile. May you feel surrounded by God's love and care and the love of your extended family and friends even though we can't physically show that right now.

We extend our sympathies to the Hoffman Family. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
I, Lorna, remember my sister and brother-in-law, Alma & Osiah Martin, being very blessed years ago by Allan. At the time their oldest child Keith was 6 yrs old and ready to start school, they lived around the corner from Israel Hoffman’s farm. Allan offered to take young Keith to the Heidelberg School every day on his way to EDSS where he was a student. It was a real blessing to the young parents to have this thoughtful, responsible teenager help them out in this way!
We plan to join you on-line tomorrow for the funeral service.

Dear Helena and family,
Our fondest memories are of you and Allan during "The Literature Crusades" team outreach in Nairobi in the late 1960's. The meetings at Nairobi Chapel, visitation in the Ofafa Jerusalem African location and a visit I made with Allan to Kampala were precious times of fellowship. We were living in 2nd Avenue Parklands and you had a house for the team in the Nairobi South C
area. Allan's leadership and the first contacts with Robert Gitau were lasting blessings. Ever since those days we have greatly valued the love, support and opportunities of sharing family and ministry news. Allan was a strong tower in the Lord's vineyard and we praise God for his faithfulness to God's Word, wide spread vision and love for God's people and work. At this time we pray for the Lord's comfort for all the family and we especially want to stand with Helena knowing that the Glory of the Lord sustains and remains the home of our hearts until the day breaks and together we see the Lord face to face.
With our love and prayers,

We as a Pamir family are very fond of Allan. He served us in our accounting department for many years and after he finally retired from this, he and Helena continued to visit our team, especially for the Wednesday afternoon prayer meetings. We know he enjoyed our Afghan meals and kababs! We have thanked Allan many times and we continue to thank God for Allan's life and legacy he has left behind for the Kingdom of God among the people of Afghanistan. We sensed that Allan deeply loved the ministry of the Gospel and joined with us in prayer as we shared together how Afghans contacted our radio and TV call-center. We will never forget Allan's generosity, humility and encouragement for Pamir Ministries. We will miss him so much. God's peace and blessing to Helena and the entire Hoffman family. Arley Loewen

Eternity will reveal the results of Allan’s consistent support of missions, as a missionary himself, and in a broad variety of support roles to others. Aunt Helena, Phil & Beth, Heather & Orvie, and families; Our warmest condolences on the passing of uncle Allan. I have so many great memories, split between the house in Elmira (with the pool table :-)) and Trout Lake in Bancroft. Later on, we really enjoyed the couple of times we stayed as guests in your current condo. I enjoyed our golf games together, both in Bancroft and Elmira. When I was much younger, I remember playing with the African wildlife carvings that came as gifts every time you returned from Africa. We had quite a collection. And of course it was quite a change to have Rod to hang out with when you came back to Canada for good.
Although it is sad to say goodbye, I can just imagine the perpetual smile that must be on uncle Allan's face now that he is with his Father in heaven...the one he served so faithfully through a life really well lived.
