Obituary of Herbert William Shannon
Peacefully passed away, after a 25 year battle with Parkinson’s, on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at Lanark Heights LTC, Kitchener, at the age of 75.
Son of the late Earl and Elda (Petrich) Shannon. Brother of Earl and Dale Shannon of Elmira and Kenneth and Marilyn Shannon of Edmonton, Alberta. Cherished uncle of Brent (Lori), Sarah (Elbert), the late Todd (1989); and Ben (Sachi), and great-uncle of Keelie, Kennedy, Coco-Rose, and Sumire. Stepfather of Shawn Louden and Tracey Burry. Also remembered by numerous cousins.
His professional career included being an elementary school teacher, graduate student, a past executive director of the Canadian Trotting Association, and executive search consultant. He was an excellent athlete excelling in baseball, basketball and track. He played on two Ontario championship baseball teams.
At Herb’s request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service for family and friends will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at 11:30 a.m. at St. James United Church, 2230 Victoria St. W., Innisfil. Interment will take place in the church cemetery. A reception will follow.
