Al Guittard

Obituary of Al Guittard

Guittard. Al ~ Passed away at Leisureworld in Elmira on November 2, 2010 in his 91st year. He was the dearly loved and devoted husband of Betty (Morrison) for 68 years. He was the cherished father of Wendy Hallman and Donna Guittard, dear grandfather to Sarah Vallery and Shannon Townsend and great-grandfather to Jeffrey and Hunter. As a husband, he was always there with patience and love. As a father, he let us experience life on our own but was always there to pick us up if we faltered. His legacy will be that we will carry these lessons forward for the rest of our lives. He loved sports all his life and participated in most – swimming, hockey, squash, racquetball to name a few. But golfing, especially in retirement, gave him the most joy. No matter what the weather he played, telling us the Gallery (Al's Army) was always watching. He also told us that "it never rained on the golf course". For him, it hardly ever did. Al was in the Canadian Armed Forces (Army) from 1942-45, serving three years overseas. At Al’s request, cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or service. Our family would like to thank Leisure World in Elmira for the tender and compassionate care shown to Al during his final years. In lieu of flowers, we request a donation can be made to Leisureworld, Elmira or to the charity of your choice. Although we mourn his loss, we will focus on celebrating his life and the memories he has given us. Service Summary There will be no visitation or service. ~ Donations: Leisureworld Caregiving Centre, 120 Barnswallow Drive, Elmira, ON N3B 2Y9 or to the charity of your choice
