“Hello , children and extended family of Ephraim martin. I share with you the loss yet at the same time celebrate with you a life well lived.
Ephraim was a mentor to me during my teen years in the 1960,s. As a neighbour farm lad I worked with Ephraim on the farm, particularly in the potato business------probably as a payback for the custom farming that he did for us. Giving the wages back home to support the family was the custom at the time. I didn`t mind as Ephraim made working fun as he enjoyed joking around as much as we workers did. He gave me some challenging jobs to do, encouraging me and having the confidence that I could do them, e.g. truck driving at the age of 16.
You children were all somewhat younger than me, so I didn`t get to know you other than little nuisances getting in our way. I do remember though (forgive me) , Richard, the times when as the oldest, your father would ask you to do a task and you would respond with, ‘Ich vill nett”, and you didn`t----and seemed to get away with it. that amazed me. Hopefully you have moved on from there??? ;)
Your dad lent me his big Oldsmobile for my first date--------I guess he was encouraging me in such matters. I must say I felt betrayed when later on I heard that he went “across the fence for greener pastures”. That must have been hard for you.
Anyways, I remember the many good times we had together.
Blessings to you as you grieve and celebrate the life of a fun-loving father.
Sincerely,
Jim (James) Martin (former neighbour down the road towards Erbsville) “

We knew Ephraim well. Ephraim never failed to give to all he knew. So gracious kind and loving. We were always proud to be among his friends at parties dinners picnics and had great visits as well. He was a kind and considerate friend. We will miss you always. So sorry for all the family. We know you will all have wonderfull memories to share. Thats what Ephraim would wish for. A vibrant happy individual. Ephraim shared his love and collecting of John Deeres. He enhanced every show he went to with his outstanding collection. A true showman for sure. Thank you from Don and I for the great memories.Farewell our Friend. Don and Shiela . In our hearts forever .
