Obituary of Mahlon Dettwiler
Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at St. Mary’s General Hospital, Kitchener, on Monday, May 13, 2019, at the age of 90.
Mahlon was the beloved husband of the late Erma (Cressman) Dettwiler (2007). Loving and devoted father of Wesley (Janet) Dettwiler, Charlene (Tom) Bruce, Debra (Art) Dettweiler, and Andrea (Dennis) Freund. Loved grandfather of Benjamin and Deeanna Dettwiler; Kyle (Jackie) Hudson; Christopher and Brent Dettweiler; Autumn (Josh Hunter), Hannah (James Ball), and Carter Freund. Proud great-grandfather of Easton and Beau Hudson. Dear brother of Carl (Ellen) Dettwiler, and brother-in-law of Rebecca Cressman and Diane Cressman.
Predeceased by his parents Enos and Lucinda (Bowman) Dettwiler, sister Pauline Baer, and brothers-in-law Curtis Baer, Curtis Cressman, and Mervin Cressman.
Mahlon was a longtime, faithful member of Elmira Mennonite Church and was employed at the KW Record (now Waterloo Region Record) for almost 25 years.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, May 16, 2019 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, 62 Arthur St. S., Elmira. Interment will take place on Friday, May 17, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Jacobs Mennonite Cemetery, 2035 Three Bridges Rd., RR 1, St. Jacobs. A memorial service will follow at 10:30 a.m. at Elmira Mennonite Church, 58 Church St. W., Elmira.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to Parkinson Society Southwestern Ontario or Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada would be appreciated by the family.
