Obituary of Arthur Terrence Coupal
COUPAL, Arthur Terrence (Terry)
After a valiant struggle with cancer for three years, Arthur Terrence (Terry) Coupal passed away peacefully at Hospice Wellington with his loving wife and best friend Marilyn (Crispin) Coupal and extended family by his side on Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at the age of 74.
He will be remembered by his loving family - nephews Roch (Louise) Giguere and Peter (Nancy) Giguere of North Bay, niece Rhonda Giguere (Colleen) of Ottawa, brother-in-law John (Pat) Crispin of Mount Forest, sisters-in-law Jean (Nick) Kuipers of Kingsville, Linda Crispin of Kitchener and Jackie Crispin of Harriston, 10 Crispin nieces and nephews, 19 great nieces and nephews, and 6 great-great niece and nephews. Terry was predeceased by his parents Roch Coupal (1953) and Elsie (Peel) Coupal (1985), sister Rochelle Giguere, great-nephew Brady Giguere, and brother-in-law Harvey Crispin.
Terry enjoyed his family and friends, travelling, back-roading, gardening and volunteering at Gale Presbyterian Church where he was a devoted choir member. With music prominent in Terry's life, he was also a very active and proud life member of the Waterloo Regional Police Male Chorus. He was also a 32nd degree Mason of the Glenrose Masonic Lodge #628 and a member of the Elmira Legion Branch #469. In 1964 he joined the Elmira Jaycees and later was awarded a Jaycee International Senatorship (Life Membership). After working for Hogg Fuel and Supply for 30 years in Sales and Marketing, Terry retired and began driving limo for Waterloo Black Car, which he enjoyed very much.
The families wish to thank Drs. Decarolis, Knight, Kilmurray, Jakda and Keleher, the chemo suite nurses, Home Care nurses, personal support workers Mary Lou, Sheena and Colin, and Hospice Wellington for their compassionate and excellent care. Many thanks to friends, church members, neighbours, and the Police Chorus for their kind words of comfort and encouragement, visits, spring and fall yard work, gifts of food, flowers, cards and emails over the last three years.
Cremation has taken place. Terry's family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, July 28, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, 62 Arthur St., S., Elmira. On Saturday, July 29, 2017 from 10-10:45 a.m. there will be a visitation at Gale Presbyterian Church, 10 Barnswallow Dr., Elmira, with a Celebration of Life service to follow at 11 a.m. A reception will follow in the Church Fellowship Hall. Interment in Harriston Cemetery after lunch.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to Gale Presbyterian Church, Hospice Wellington or Grand River Regional Cancer Centre, would be appreciated by the family.
